The Brazilian government has increasingly interested in sharing successful experiences about human development related to social, environmental and economic development. From this interest a program of cooperation with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) was created, entitled "Programme for International Cooperation Brazil-FAO", one of the strategies for strengthening South-South Cooperation, a mechanism for joint development between developing countries in response to common challenges.

Given this context, FAO, Itaipu and the Government of the State of Paraná (Brazil), established the Good Practices for Sustainable Development Platform, administered by the Project Coordination Unit - Southern Brazil, an area of dissemination and replicable initiatives sharing good practices developed in southern Brazil.
